On Tuesday, Google announced they would get their hands into the social media business by starting their own social network known at Google Buzz. The new social media will be incorporated with Gmail accounts and will allow users to create status updates and read and comment on the updates posted by their friends. It’ll also be connected to other social networks including Flickr & Twitter, so you can show your status’ that way. The site is now officially open. Facebook turned 6 last week, and as they celebrated their birthday, the company officially announced they now have more than 400 million users. We already knew that if Facebook were it’s own country it would be the 3rd most populous nation on the planet, but the new numbers make up about a third of India’s current population. With the site as one of the fastest growing on the web, you have to wonder what Facebook users are doing online. This week the company released some of interesting statistics saying that ‘more than 35 million users update their status each and every single day, while about 3 billion photos uploaded to the site each and every single month, In businesses on Facebook, More than 1.5 million local businesses have active Pages on the site. And more than 20 million people become fans of those Pages each and every single day. Much of the nation has been experiencing winter like blizzard conditions for the past week or so. And last’s week’s forecast video by Jim Kosek has gone viral.
